Use a melter designed for wax melts
The perfect height is between 10cm - 13cm. Depending on where you are placing it and the temperature, you will have to swap out sizes. The colder the temperature, the smaller or more enclosed the melter should be.
Avoid using the small oil burners as these are not designed for wax melts or to be used for longer than 15 minutes.
Don't use 8 hour tealights
Melters are just like candles. They shouldn't burn for longer than 4 hours at a time. This is because it can overheat. It will burn off your fragrance faster as it's getting hotter than it should.
Never leave your melters unattended
You should never leave a lit candle unattended. It goes the same for your wax melter, especially if you use tealight candles.
Keep your melters clean
Keeping your melters clean will help the heating process. It will have a much more even burn as it won't be heating excess wax.
Keep your melter on a heat protected & even surface
You should have your melters on an even surface to prevent any spillages and on a heat protected surface to prevent your melter from overheating.
Stay away from draughts
Draughts will cause your wax melt to not melt and disperse your scent very well, or it might not even melt at all.
Don't move your melter when it's on
This is a common one, I'm even guilty of moving it when there's melted wax in the pool. But please be careful and always blow the candle out and allow it to cool before moving the melter as they get really hot.
Don't use a cracked melter
A cracked melter is a fire hazard. Even hairline cracks can cause major issues. The wax can seep through on to your tealight below. The whole pool can also just pop off while melting. So replace those cracked melters.
Store your wax melts properly
Storing your unused wax melts away from sunlight and in their original packaging will keep your wax melt in the best condition and as highly fragrant as when you first got them.
Start with a small amount of wax
Starting with a small amount of wax allows you to control the scent levels, plus you won't be overfilling your melter. Some melts are much more powerful than others, so you won't need as much to get a great scent.
